Varennes: Governor-General Named For Chambord/Republic of Morovia
{The Editors of The Morovian Telegraph posts the following Press Release without comment except to note that the following certainly indicates that His Majesty Louis I has no designs on the Kingdom of Morovia and yes, I suppose, that is indeed a comment :-)}

17 August 2004
It is announced from the Palace that His Majesty the King will establish the office of Governor-General to permanently represent the Crown in the Dominion of Chambord and that His Majesty will appoint Her Royal Highness, Princess Shannon Alexandra as first Governor-General of Chambord.
The establishment of the vice-regal office is the first step in concretely securing the former Republic of Morovia to the Crown, bringing with it as it does a clear manifestation of the Crown's intent to permanently possess and govern her new aquisition. In days to come, the Governor-General's office will publish it's own pages on the official website of the Kingdom of Varennes/Dominion of Chambord.
Her Royal Highness, upon becoming governor-general, will replace Major General Lord Colborne who has been representing His Majesty with regard to Chambord as interim viceroy. A resident of Port Colborne, Ontario, Lord Colborne is charged with the responsibility of representing His Majesty's english-speaking Canadian subjects as royal governor of the Province of Champlain. The title "governor-general of Chambord" was finally selected over "viceroy" simply because, in the end, His Majesty preferred it. It is also speculated that the government of Chambord may be modeled after that of Canada, at least with regard to titles and traditions.
In taking-on the role of governor-general, Her Royal Highness assumes her first-ever government post. As sister of the King and a senior member of the Royal Family, Shannon Alexandra has been in the public eye in the past, particularly in the Kingdom of Hanover, once ruled by the Marchmains. Before now, however, her hands have not held the reins of government.
When asked if she would be an active governor-general, Her Royal Highness replied, "Of course not. Do you honestly think I'm going to sit in front of a computer and run one of your idiotic kingdoms? What is this now, the fourth one? In that last one I got hit-on by 3 underage boys and some jackass who thought he was God's gift to women. You can use my picture on the website but only if I can do the royal wave, and I'm not wearing that crappy tiara from Claire's again. I'll say things on your little chat board if and when I feel like it...which will probably be never. Where's my martini, bitch?"
His Majesty the King praised his sister for her "typical Marchmain approach to government: callous, uncaring, self-absorbed haughtiness with a splash of alcoholism," calling the princess "a credit to the dynasty". His Majesty further indicated that the new GG's purse clashed with her shoes and recommended that she use a mirror next time when applying her lipstick. "We can't all be as ladylike as Your Majesty the Queen, now can we?" came the vice-regal response.
Although enjoying the style "dominion", Chambord will be ruled directly by the Crown through the Governor-General's office as a colony for the time being. Discussions pertaining to the future of Chambord are underway now. Possible future scenarios for Chambord include elevating the Dominion to the status of a kingdom, allowing Chambord to become an independent nation, and allowing Chambord to fall into ruin, disrepair and dysfunction, kind of like the Palace. Thus far His Majesty has not indicated his own preference.
