Varennes: Avenging Morovia's Crown, HM King Louis I Claims, Renames Republic of Morovia

His Most Sacred Majesty King Louis , King of Varennes has issued the following Letters Patent which are being reprinted in their entirety.

In response to the recent events concerning the so-called "Republic of Morovia", His Majesty the King has issued the following Letters Patent:

LOUIS, by the Grace of God King of Varennes to Our Lords the Premier President and Conseillers of Our Parlement of Capet and to all Our loving subjects whatsoever to whom these presents shall come, greeting.

WE HAVE BEEN ANNOYED in recent days by the misguided actions of certain individuals who, in a grotesque, clownish and shameful attempt to assail the legitimacy of the Kingdom of Morovia, have claimed to revivify the illegitimate national entity styled "The Republic of Morovia".

For reasons history will record, Our own relationship with the King of Morovia is one of estrangement. Our quarrel with King Vincent III and various of his subjects over events concerning the Kingdom of Hanover are a matter of public record and will be instantly recalled by many who chance to read these presents. Regardless of the unfortunate enmity which may exist between our two Crowns, We are compelled to condemn in the most vociferous tones the actions of those renegades who would attempt to usurp the authority of the King and the lawful government of Morovia.

Not content merely to condemn such actions, it is Our full intent to avenge this impertinent assault on a fellow crowned head inasmuch as falls within Our power to so do. If it is possible for one group of rebels to declare a counter-state and a mirror-nation to an already existing one, then it is also possible for an existing power to lay claim to such a state and such a nation in similar fashion and with as much legitimacy.

LET IT BE KNOWN, therefore, that We do by these presents formally claim the so-called Republic of Morovia in Our own name and do hereby abolish the name "Republic of Morovia," re-styling that entity the "Dominion of Chambord" to be held and ruled by Us, Our heirs and successors in perpetuity.

WE DO FURTHER pronounce of Our own authority a sentence of treason and lese majeste against all who call themselves citizens of the former Republic of Morovia, now by these presents the Dominion of Chambord and will retain these same as Our subjects unless and until the Government of Morovia shall see fit to request their extradition,

IN WITNESS WHEREOF We have caused these Letters to be made Patent with Our manual sign and for the greater validity and testimony thereof we have caused Our Great Seal of the Kingdom of Varennes to be impressed hereupon,

Given at Our Court at Valenciennes on this Eleventh day of August in the Year of Grace 2004, the second of Our Reign.

Louis

Dei Gratia Rex

His Majesty the King, in issuing these Letters, has assumed the title King of Chambord and does now possess full and complete royal lordship over that entity formerly known as the Republic of Morovia. Those individuals attached to that former republic may be from this moment on considered subjects of the King of Chambord and also stand convicted of treason and lese majeste under the laws of the Kingdom of Varennes. The return of these individuals to the legitimate Kingdom of Morovia is contingent upon a request of extradition by the Morovian Government. Until such time, the aforementioned subjects of His Majesty King Louis shall be deprived of any and all liberties and priviliges normally accorded loyal Varennese subjects and shall be considered imprisoned for all practical intents and purposes.

The Palace has further indicated that, should said subjects of His Majesty King Louis continue in their rebellious actions, their present status of "imprisoned" will be changed to "deceased" following a sentence of execution. In the event of such a status change, the aforementioned subjects of His Majesty will be officially and irrevocably considered non-existant by the Governments of Varennes and Chambord, regardless of whether or not any other Government or entity shall otherwise characterize the status of the individuals in question.

His Majesty will announce the appointment of a vice-regal officer for the Dominion of Chambord in the coming days.
