Morovia: What About Yarl?
{Major Correction by the Editors - 8/18}
Attera, Babkha, Cyberia, Morovia, The Order of St. Michael and Varennes have all spoken out regarding Yarl Berg's action reinstating the Republic of Morovia.
But Morovia has a special burden shared by none of these other entities - Yarl Berg is a citizen in good standing of the Kingdom of Morovia.
In the thread VOTE: Resolution on Yarl Berg, Morovia's Assembly wrestles over the knotty issue of Yarl Berg's status as Morovian citizen.
The contest seems very one-sided.
While the Hon. Michael Fors (Progressive Reform) AM, CM, in his capacity as His Majesty's Prosecutor-General declared the current resolution being voted (as changed by friendly amendment by its sponsor the Hon. Sir. Adam Graham) legally coherent, in his capacity as assembly representative he is seriously concerned.
The Hon. Michael Fors addressed the Speaker as follows: Mr. Speaker, to say that a person is in rebellion against the Kingdom is a very powerful statement. The person known as Yarl Berg has not been convicted of neither treason nor rebellion or any other applicable crime. If the Hon. Gentlemen feel that Yarl Berg has been or is commiting crimes they should file a report with the Prosecutor-General's Chambers.
The resolution (as amended) states:
The vote so far enjoys broad, bi-partisan support and registers the Hon. Christopher McQueeny (Independent), the Hon. Rob McMonigal (Progressive Reform) and the Hon. Sir Adam Graham (Conservative) as voting "YEA".
The Hon. Bill Bekkenhuis CM, caught in transit between HM Ministry of Home Affairs and the editorial offices of The Morovian Telegraph "reluctantly" gave the following comment.
The Hon. Michael Fors AM, CM has not, as of our publication deadline, cast his vote.

The resolution (as amended) states:
Whereas, Yarl Berg is now in continued rebellion against the throne and seeks to overthrow the legitimate government of Morovia. {Editors - This line inadvertantly omitted from our original article.}
Whereas, Berg has shown contempt for the throne and the people of Morovia.
Whereas, He has tried the patience of the people of Morovia long enough.
Therefore be it resolved,
That at the time of the Special Referendum scheduled for August 27th-August 29th the People of Morovia shall vote on the expulsion of Yarl Berg from the Kingdom of Morovia under Article 42 of the Constitution if he has not accepted His Majesty’s gracious offer of Amnesty.
While I am very sympathetic to the Hon. Mr. Fors position, I am realistic enough to realize that a) Yarl Berg probably deserves, under the rules of frontier justice if not civilized justice, to be cast overboard and b) it's going to happen any way and c) that Yarl Berg is a long, long inactive citizen with whom we have no good email address and who is either being impersonated or is functioning as a troll and who has long since forgotten the maelstrom he created and c) if he did do it and was sufficently contrite he would probably regain his citizenship (Morovians are a forgiving lot).
I believe the Honorable Gentleman should vote his conscience, accept the end result and work to change the laws of Morovia to link the constitutional process which currently allows people to be thrown out for no reason at all with Morovia's evolving criminal code in which the rights and responsibilities of citizenship are linked to a citizen's minimally good behavior.
The Hon. Michael Fors AM, CM has not, as of our publication deadline, cast his vote.
