Opinion: Alexander I of Hanover Does The Right Thing

His Majesty Alexander I of Hanover has intervened in the religious meltdown in Hanover, specifically speaking to the status of Lord Lancaster ( Sir Wyatt-James T. McIntyre):

Hence forth and until further notice the Lord Lancaster's various resignations, renunciations and revocations are null and void. The Lord Lancaster retains his Hanoverian and Calormani citizenships, his title as Viscount of Lancaster is in full force and not in jeopardy in any way. His position as Chief Justice is intact and held in trust until such time as he may resume duty.

Let the Crown be clear on this issue. The Lord Lancaster has been, and remains, a loyal subject and despite what may have appeared to be conflict between the Crown and his Lordship the Crown sees no discord, no breach of trust or other disharmony.

His Majesty has followed this message up with a personal apology for actions taken:

On the subject of respect, it is with deep disappointment in Our own conduct that we have to confess Our shortcomings. The Lord Lancaster was the subject of undue personal comments spoken in the moments of tension which did emotional damage to Our personal friend. These words were spoken in public, and thus the apology should also be given in public.

The Editors of The Morovian Telegraph (all one of us :-) applaud these actions taken by His Majesty.

By responding to the recent religious turmoil without become ensnared in the specifics and by choosing to intervene pastorally rather than bureaucratically or politically, His Majesty demonstrates by personal action that there is more to being a King than having a crown placed on one's head.

And this paper suggests that as goes the King, so should go the clerics of the various churches and orders involved in this series of doctrinal and organizational disputes.
