Foong & Graham Blow Away The Cobwebs

Briesk, Morovia - Speaker Sir Adam Graham (Conservative) and Rt. Hon. People's Representative Steven Foong (Progressive Reform) have apparently formed a collegial coalition of the willing to modernize and expedite Morovia's legislative and executive processes.

Sir Adam had barely warmed the Speaker's chair when he introduced a dazzling array of procedural changes in the way HM Royal Assembly conducts its business, introducing four amendments to the Standing Orders, three new pieces of legislation and one proposed constitutional amendment.

Sir Adam's proposed rule changes focus on expediting elections for Speaker and People's Representative as well as expediting the legislative process itself through clarifying how various motions to a resolution shall be handled as well as through the truly revolutionary suggestion of allowing HM Royal Assembly to discuss and even vote online through instant messaging.

Several of Sir Adam's proposed laws would reduce the formal legal burden, on the government, of staffing various commissions that Morovia simply lacks the active citizenry to staff - and that no one seems to miss :-) as well as a law that would formalize and distinguish between citizens and registered voters.

The proposed amendment to the constitution would allow depriving a citizen of voting rights as punishment for a crime (noting that most crimes brought in micronational courts are serious crimes on the level of treason).

Meanwhile, on the executive side of government, the Rt. Hon. People's Representative has not been idle.

First he announced his cabinet as follows:

Ministry of Home Affairs - Hon. Bill Bekkenhuis, CM

Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Hon. Christopher McQueeny, AM, CM

Ministry of Economics - Rt. Hon. Steven Foong, AM, CM (the Rt. Hon. Steven Foong will also lead the executive branch as People's Representative and will continue to oversee Morovia's Defense establishment)

Ministry of Information - Hon. Rob McMonigal, AM, CM

Prosecutor General - Hon. Michael Fors, AM, CM

Ministry of Culture - Hon. Sir Adam Graham, AM, CM

Announcing a policy of leading a strong central government that is nonetheless responsive to the citizenry, the Rt. Hon. Steven Foong pledges to cut red tape and eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy through a program of management by objectives and results.

It would appear that Team Morovia is in place and, during a period of summertime activity all but unprecedented in recent Morovian history (anyone remember last year? Anyone? Anyone? :-), it appears that the Kingdom of Morovia may well be on the cusp of a new renaissance.
